RipsyTech’s AI Features Are Here!
For our 50th episode of the Sit and Stay podcast, we decided to break from our usual programming and do something we’ve never done before—highlight our own software. If you didn’t already know, Sit and Stay is produced by RipsyTech, an EHR company dedicated to making mental healthcare more efficient and less frustrating for providers. And recently, we released two new AI features that we’re incredibly proud of: the AI Document Generator and the AI Note Scribe.
In this episode, Parker and Tom discuss why these tools were built, how they work, and what we’ve heard so far from the clinicians who are already using them.
Why We Built These AI Features
We didn’t create these tools just to hop on the AI trend. We built them because documentation continues to be one of the biggest pain points in clinical work. Providers often find themselves working late into the night, buried in notes and letters that pull focus away from patient care.
We also noticed that many clinicians were turning to third-party AI scribes, only to end up copying and pasting content back into their EHR—an inefficient, disconnected workflow. As both a developer and practicing clinician, Tom saw an opportunity to build smarter, fully integrated tools that would streamline documentation from within the EHR itself. The goal: give providers their time back, without compromising the clinical integrity of their work.
How the AI Document Generator Works
The AI Document Generator lives directly on a patient’s facesheet and allows providers to create common letters using the clinical data they’ve already entered into the system. That means no starting from scratch, no writing prompts, and no repetitive formatting.
It’s perfect for generating treatment summaries, IEP requests, accommodation letters, and initial assessment reports. Providers can customize what’s included—down to specific notes or questionnaires—and generate a polished draft in seconds. Tom shared one example where he created a detailed letter for a complex patient in a fraction of the usual time. He made just ten small edits before sending it off, and the family was shocked by the quick turnaround.
How the AI Note Scribe Is Different
While many AI scribes require external apps and tedious copy-pasting, the Note Scribe is built right into the EHR and works from actual audio recordings of the session. This not only ensures clinical accuracy but also keeps everything in one place—streamlining the provider’s workflow.
What really makes this feature stand out is its adaptability. Because the system can access previously signed notes, it learns each provider’s preferred structure and tone over time. That personalization helps clinicians spend less time rewriting and more time reviewing and approving. In the end, it means fewer late nights, more flexibility between sessions, and—maybe most importantly—a better chance to take a break, grab some water, or even fit in one more patient.
Guardrails for Clinical Responsibility
With any AI tool, there’s a risk of over-reliance. That’s why we’ve taken steps to ensure our features remain provider-led. Notes and letters are generated from actual patient data—never hallucinated content—and must be reviewed and signed by the clinician. As Tom pointed out, you can’t blame AI in a legal dispute. If your name is on the document, you’re still responsible.
We’ve also been exploring additional audit tools—like tracking how much of a generated note is edited—to help clinic supervisors ensure responsible use. These tools aren’t just about compliance; they’re about protecting both clinicians and patients by reinforcing high standards of care.
What Clinicians Are Saying
So far, the feedback has been incredibly encouraging. One physician, new to AI, saw the Document Generator in action and said, “This is magic.” Another clinician testing the Note Scribe side-by-side with a third-party service told us, “This is perfect. I can’t believe this.” And Tom’s own experience with a custom letter that once took 30+ minutes now takes just seconds.
While it’s still early, the excitement from users tells us we’re solving real problems—and that means we’re headed in the right direction.

In this week’s mental health business moment…
A clinician recently shared a cautionary tale. After agreeing to a brief 10-minute phone call with a friend-of-a-friend seeking services, the conversation stretched into 45 minutes—essentially a full, unpaid session. In the end, the caller chose to go elsewhere. The situation highlighted a key lesson: set clear boundaries, stick to time limits, and think carefully before mixing personal connections with professional obligations—especially when your practice is already at capacity.
Final Thoughts
We’re proud to have reached 50 episodes of Sit and Stay—and even prouder to share tools we truly believe will make a difference in clinicians’ lives. AI shouldn’t replace providers, but it should help them do their jobs better and faster. With the Document Generator and Note Scribe, we’re working toward an EHR that doesn’t just store data—it actively supports the people doing the work.
Here’s to the next 50 episodes.
